Postdocs
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in theoretical/computational soft matter in the Goodrich Group at IST Austria. The project will study the emergence of biological-like functionality in self-assembled systems composed of simple building blocks, and will involve the use of machine-learning-like numerical techniques to solve inverse-design problems. We are looking for highly creative applicants with a strong background in theoretical and/or computational soft matter physics. The project is for 2 years initially, with the possibility to extend up to 5 years, and the starting date is flexible.
IST Austria is an international research institute just outside of Vienna with a lively soft matter and biophysics community, excellent research support, and internationally competitive salaries (between 69k EUR and 76k EUR per year depending on experience). We also offer several independent postdoc fellowship options (e.g. here and here, more information here). Last but not least, Vienna is also a great place to live — it is consistently ranked the most livable city in the world!
To apply, please send 1) a short description of past research/interest for our group, and 2) a CV that includes publications and contact information for at least 3 references to carl.goodrich@ist.ac.at (and cc dajana.mujagic@ist.ac.at).
PhD Students
Prospective Ph.D students should apply directly to the Graduate School at IST Austria. Note that we have a US-style graduate school with centralized admissions — applications cannot be sent directly to the PI.
